Vista’s “Virtual Store” folder and missing files?

Posted by lukegofannon on July 2, 2008

Instructions from “Diesel” (DMB’s tech guy) on the DMB forum:

The “VirtualStore” folder is where Vista saves data files when a program running without administrator privileges tries to save something to a folder within the Program Files folder. If you have DMB set up to run as an administrator you shouldn’t need to worry about the files saved there.

Vista doesn’t like programs that save their data files to a location within the Program Files folder (e.g., “c:\Program files\dmb9\”).

Try using Computer (Vista’s version of My Computer) to look for your missing DMB files in a folder named “c:\Users\yourusername\AppData\Local\VirtualStore\Program Files\dmb9″ (replace yourusername with the name on the user account you are logged in as).
